The Carson Valley Inn, Casino and RV Park

 

The headquarters hotel for WeSTOC XIV will once again be the Carson Valley Inn, in Minden Nevada.

CVI contains three different lodging venues located along a 2 block stretch of US395 on the north end of Minden. The properties include the Carson Valley Inn/Casino, the CVI Motor Lodge, and the CVI RV Park.

CVI is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the south shore of Lake Tahoe. The state Capital, Carson City, is 10 miles north, and near there is historic Virginia City. The Carson Valley Inn is a full-featured hotel/casino, including an indoor pool/spa, casino, poker room, wedding chapel, and several restaurants.

All official WeSTOC XIV functions will take place in or outside of the Carson Valley Inn/Casino. You have your choice of lodging in either the Inn or the Motor Lodge, which is about a block away. There are also a couple of spots reserved in the RV park if anyone is bringing an RV. There is no tent camping allowed in the RV park. The Motor Lodge is approximately 1 short block from the Inn, on the same side of the street and is separated from the Inn by the RV park, gas station and a parking lot. Roped-off parking will be available, and covered parking for guests of the main lodge is available on a first-come first serve basis.

This Year's Rates (Please Read!)

Our negotiated hotel rates for WeSTOC XIV are $66.60/night in the Motor Lodge, $84.60/night in the Inn. These rates are for two people per room, for over 2 people add $6/person per night. Room tax of 10% will be added to these rates. There is complementary high-speed wireless available in all rooms, in restaurant and banquet areas, but not in the casino. There are no complimentary meals included in these rates (hey, it's a casino property!)

 

Arrive early, or stay late

Our negotiated hotel rates are available for early arrivals, i.e. Monday night, under our room block, for a limited number of rooms (approximately 1/2). If you are staying later, i.e. Friday night, you'll need to negotiate your own rate with the hotel. Casino hotels normally have much higher rates on Friday and Saturday nights.

Directions to the Carson Valley Inn

GPS coordinates for the Carson Valley Inn are: (N38.57.207 W119.45.754) The address is: 1627 Hwy 395 N, Minden, NV 89423. Their toll free number is 800-321-6983.

 

From the North: take US395 approximately 10 miles South of Carson City, Nevada. The CVI is on your left on the north end of Minden, about the time you hit the 25 mph zone.

From the South: take US395 north through Gardnerville and Minden, the CVI will be on your right on the north end of Minden. If you see Arby's on your left, you've gone a little too far.

From South Lake Tohoe, take NV207 (Kingsbury Grad) east to NV88, north to US395, then south a few blocks on US395.

Remember, the WeSTOC dates are Tuesday August 25 check-in, Friday August 28 check-out (3 nights), unless you are arriving Monday August 24.

You can make your reservations by phone or internet. There are different group codes depending on the method, so read carefully below!

For Phone Reservations:

  • Re-read the rate information above so you aren't confused, and decide which property you'd like to stay at.
  • Have your credit card ready
  • Call 1-800-321-6983 Ext 1 direct and toll-free for your reservation.
  • The Group code for Phone reservations is 501639. Make your reservation for either the Inn or the Motor Lodge and make sure to confirm your rate as stated above.
  • Save your confirmation number

For Internet Reservations:

  • Re-read the rate information above so you aren't confused, and decide which property you'd like to stay at.
  • Have your credit card ready.
  • To start, put the group reservation code 10000501639 in the group reservation box on the CVI reservation screen, and click the submit link underneath that. No need to establish an account or remember your dates, they'll come up on the system.

Campers

The WeSTOC Disorganization Committee encourages everyone to stay at the headquarters hotel, at least until our room block is filled. If you are arriving in an RV, there is no better RV park than the one at CVI.

For those of you who, for some unknown reason, prefer to sleep on the ground, there are several campgrounds available in the area.

Several people stayed at Zephyr Cove on Lake Tahoe during the last Minden WeSTOC, and liked it. It's about 19 miles from the CVI.

Grovers Hot Springs State Park has camping and it's about 25 miles from Minden (about 5 miles west of Markleeville)

Turtle Rock County Park is on CA89 just north of Markleeville, about 19 miles from Minden.

Carson River Resort is about 3 miles south of Markleeville, so about 25 miles from the CVI.

There's a National Forest Service campground at Markleeville that is more primitive and thus cheaper.

Washoe Lake State Park has camping, with showers. It's about 15 miles north of Minden off US395, north of Carson City.

There are several other campgrounds, private, municipal, state and federal, in the area. Google is your friend!
