The Event...

The WeSTOC XIV Disorganization Committee and the WeSTOC Emeritus Council welcomes you to Carson Valley for the fourteenth annual gathering of the Western STOC Clans. Minden, at the edge of the High Sierra, is close enough to Lake Tahoe to enjoy all the benefits of the area, but without the hassle of actually being there.

The Carson Valley, home to the towns of Minden, Gardnerville, and the oldest town in Nevada, Genoa, is a special place. Cows still graze on verdant ranches while eagles circle overhead. Multi-million dollar homes on large acreages feature huge horse barns. Lake Tahoe is just 30 minutes away in a high valley above Minden. At night, the lights you see high up on the mountains above are the condos of the Heavenly ski area overlooking Tahoe. Jobs Peak, the highest of the mountains overlooking the valley, showcases the rugged Sierra Nevadas, where we're tempted by dozens of great riding opportunities.

 

 

WeSTOC XIV returns to the normal late August/early September timeframe. This period in western Nevada/eastern California offers us the highest probability of outstanding weather in the high Sierra. The summer heat is mostly past, and the pleasant fall weather is setting in while early snows are very rare. Tourist traffic should be minimal, with many schools having started for the year.

  • 3 p.m. - Hotel check-in available
  • 1 - 5 p.m. Arrivals, WeSTOC XIV registration
  • 5-7 p.m. - Reception and Rider's Meeting

Wednesday August 26th, 2009

  • Get up whenever you feel like it!
  • Figure out your route for the day and form your riding groups.
  • Grab some breakfast at the hotel or out on the road.
  • Go Ride, or just lay around.
  • Dinner on your own with your new or old friends.
  • Other activities as announced.

Thursday August 27th, 2009

  • ? a.m. - Get up whenever you feel like it!
  • Go Ride!
  • 4 p.m. - Show and Shine bike judging
  • 5 p.m. - Social hour and bar
  • 6 p.m. - Banquet and Awards program (Note: No admission unless you're a registered attendee)

Friday August 28th, 2009
