The Event...

The WeSTOC XIII Disorganization Committee,aka The New Mexico contingent, welcomes you to Taos for the thirteenth annual gathering of the Western STOC Clans. Here you will find yourself at the intersection of three cultures, in one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in America.

Legend has it that there was a special kind of magic surrounding the third WeSTOC, held in August 1998. Some say the Shaman Hedshaykin cast a spell. Others say it was just the right time, the right place, and the right people. We don't know. But enough of us that weren't fortunate enough to be able to attend WeSTOC III whined long enough and loudly enough that we were able to convice the WeSTOC Emeritus Council to return once again to this magical venue.

 

 

WeSTOC XIII sets another precedent by becoming the earliest ever WeSTOC. Late June was chosen for WeSTOC in 2008, varying from the traditional August/September timeframe. June offers us the highest probability of outstanding weather in the Taos area, along with lower tourist traffic and an overall better experience than can be had later in the year.

  • Taos is located at 36.4° N 105.6° W.
  • The elevation is 7090 feet or 2161 meters.
  • The average rainfall for June in Taos is 0.01".
  • The average temperature range for the end of June is 44°F/6°C to 81°F/27°C.
  • The record high temperature for June 24-26 in Taos is 91°F/32°C (2007).
  • There is no road construction planned for the end of June for North/Central New Mexico.
  • The average wind speed for June 24-26 is 4 mph with gusts of 16 mph.
  • The average visibility for June 24-26 is 10 miles.

Tuesday June 24th

  • 1 p.m. - Hotel check-in available
  • 1 - 7 p.m. Arrivals, WeSTOC XIII registration
  • 6 p.m. - Rider's Meeting

Wednesday June 25th

  • ? a.m. - Get up whenever you feel like it!
  • Figure out your route for the day and form your riding groups
  • Grab some breakfast at the hotel or out on the road at the locations suggested along the many routes

Thursday June 26th

  • ? a.m. - Get up whenever you feel like it!
  • Go Ride!
  • 3 p.m. - Show and Shine bike judging
  • 4 p.m. - Group Photo
  • 5 p.m. - Social hour and bar
  • 6 p.m. - Outdoor Western BBQ/Banquet and Awards program (Note: No admission unless you're a registered attendee)

Friday June 27th

  • Hotel checkout by 11 a.m., tearful farewells
